I have been contacted by a number of constituents regarding proposals for schools in Monkseaton and whilst this is primarily the responsibility of the local authority, I do share the concerns of local parents and school staff.
I have recently met with the Head of Langley School and I have since contacted the council to ask a number of questions relating to the plans.
I have asked that the council publish the criteria they have used in drawing up these proposals to ensure full transparency. I have asked that the council look at widening the option on offer and importantly, that the consultation is extended.
It is of huge importance that parents’ voices are heard and I would encourage all interested parties to engage in the consultation process.
