Yesterday afternoon the Chancellor announced the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme cut off will be extended to the 19th March 2020.
Under the scheme, employers can claim a grant covering 80% of the wages for a furloughed employee, subject to a cap of £2,500 a month.
Employers can now claim for furloughed employees that were employed and on their PAYE payroll on or before 19 March 2020.
I am aware however that there are still local people and businesses that fall through the gaps and I am continuing to raise those urgent concerns with the Chancellor and the Treasury.
