Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell today toasted Admiral Lord Collingwood at an event at Collingwood Monument.
‘A Toast to the Admiral’ is held on Trafalgar Day every year and is organised by North Tyneside Council and marks the achievements of our very own Admiral Lord Collingwood.
Alan said ‘We should be rightly proud of Lord Collingwood and his place not just in the nation’s history but in our local history”.
The toast happens at 12pm as this was the time at which the first shot was fired in the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805.
