Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has joined members of St Columba's Church in North Shields at the official re-opening of the church after extensive redevelopment. 

Alan Campbell MP said, "St Columba's is an important part of our local community. Designed by John Dobson who was born in Chirton the church has played an important part in North Shields life for a century and a half.  The redevelopment is extensive but sympathetic and improved facilities will allow the church to work with local people.  I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the work which has updated the church and I hope, underpinned it's place in our community for many years to come"
