Recently the Home Affairs Committee launched an enquiry into Domestic Violence and Forced Marriage.   As part of the enquiry the Committee has launched an online consultation to listen to the views of people with first hand experience of domestic violence.  The consultation forum can be accessed at; http://forums.parliament.uk/dvec/index.php?index,1 and will run until the 29th February 2008 with the posts received shaping the recommendations the Committee makes to government in its report. 

Local MP Alan Campbell said ‘This is a very important issue which affects many people across the country.  It is vitally important that those that are or have been affected by these issues not only get the help and support they need, but that they let government know their experience of mainstream services, for example the police, courts, health and social services and support services including voluntary agencies.  The Committee is interested in both things that are done well and things that could be improved.  Getting the views of people with experience of these issues is a vital step towards improving the services and support that is offered in the future'.
