Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has joined former members of the Merchant Navy to commemorate those who lost their lives in the service of their country.

Alan Campbell MP laid a wreath at the memorial in Howard Street, North Shields, at a Merchant Navy Day service.

Alan Campbell MP said, "I am honoured to have been asked to join with veterans and their families to commemorate those who served and too often lost their lives in the Merchant Navy."
