People claiming compensation for respiratory disease and Vibration White Finger and living in the Tynemouth Constituency area have received a total of more than half a million pounds so far.
The Energy Minister, Brian Wilson, confirmed that 31 March 2004 is the cut off point for claims.
Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell said,
"I recognise the concern that this process often takes a long time and I have had to take up a number of claims on behalf of constituents. But the money is coming through and people still have an opportunity to apply up to 31st March 2004.
